The journal Nano Letter on May 9 once again reported the application of Zeyu Technology's in-situ measurement system in solid-state sodium oxygen battery research (DOI: 10.1021/acs.nanolett.8b00894). In this study, CuO nanowires/O2 were used as the air cathode of the battery, and Na was used as the anode of the battery. Combined with spherical aberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy, the researchers observed in situ the chemical reactions that occur in the solid-state oxygen-sodium battery after energization. The whole chemical reaction process is divided into two stages:(1)CuO is converted to CuO2, which is then converted to Cu;(2)NaO2 is formed, which is then converted to Na2O2 and O2. CuO nanowires undergo significant expansion during this process. It is worth mentioning that the whole chemical reaction process did not produce carbonate. This research result is very important for understanding solid-state sodium-oxygen batteries using carbon-free air cathodes.

PicoFemto series in-situ sample rods of Zeryou Technology are used as the carrier of the battery model in this study, which stably and accurately completes the tasks of sample area selection and electric field application. It is worth mentioning that the dual-use sample loading scheme introduced by Zeyou Technology greatly improves the application range and ease of use of the product compared to the traditional STM probe rod that can only be loaded with gold needles. At the same time, this scheme is also the preferred lithium battery/solid-state battery electrode research.
