Recently, China University of Petroleum, Yanshan University and Xi 'an Jiaotong University jointly disclosed a technology for welding nano-ceramic materials using in-situ sub-nano manipulation probes in environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM). The relevant research results were published in SCI journal Nature Communications (DOI: 10.1038/s41467-017-02590-1).

ceramic material has the advantages of high temperature resistance, high hardness, high chemical stability, etc., but the main reason for limiting its application is that there is no effective welding scheme at present, which can ensure the original good performance of the ceramic material after welding. This paper presents a practical and effective welding scheme, not only in the ETEM using in-situ TEM-STM system to achieve in-situ welding on the sub-nanometer scale, the reduction position observation of the welding point in the nano-manipulation probe after the performance of the stress.

The Pico Femto FE-F20 in-situ TEM-STM system of Zeyu Technology accurately and stably completed the sample welding task in this study, and also assisted in the TEM observation of the sample under in-situ stress.
