Nature Communications | ZEPTOOLS In-situ SEM reveals dynamic fracture mechanism of 3 GPa-grade ultra-high-strength steel
Steel, as the cornerstone of modern civilization and industry, plays a critical role in the performance evolution of extreme load-bearing components, with yield strength becoming a core design parameter for service safety. After nearly a century of development, the yield strength of ultra-high-strength aerospace alloys has reached approximately 2 GPa. However, the development of next-generation frontier technologies such as drive shafts for deep-space exploration vehicles urgently demands a major leap to achieve an ultra-high yield strength of 3 GPa. This requires materials to attain ultra-high strength without compromising key damage tolerance indicators such as total elongation, reduction of area, and fatigue resistance.

Advanced Functional Materials | ZEPTOOLS In-Situ TEM Enables Real-Time Electrical Monitoring of Plastic Deformation in Tungsten Nanowires
With the continued miniaturization of micro/nanoelectromechanical systems and advanced interconnect devices, the structural stability and functional reliability of metallic nanomaterials under extreme conditions face increasingly severe challenges. In these micro/nanodevices, the stresses experienced by materials can easily exceed their yield strength, triggering irreversible plastic deformation. Even extremely small plastic strains can induce the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks, ultimately leading to catastrophic functional failure of the device. Therefore, achieving early identification and accurate assessment of plastic deformation at the micro/nano scale is of vital importance for predicting material failure and ensuring the operational safety of systems. Although electrical impedance changes, as a non-destructive and sensitive parameter, have been widely used for structural damage monitoring at the macroscale, their application in the field of micro/nanodevices remains difficult.

Applied Materials Today | ZEPTOOLS DMD Maskless Lithography System Assists in the Fabrication of High-Performance Heterojunction Photodetectors
Photodetectors are core components of optoelectronic systems, widely used in communications, imaging, and other fields. Among them, silicon-based detectors have long dominated due to their mature technology and high cost-effectiveness. However, the inherent bandgap of silicon materials limits their spectral response range, making it difficult to meet the demand for broadband detection in modern emerging technologies. In recent years, two-dimensional materials with excellent optoelectronic properties have stood out, and their van der Waals layered structure enables seamless integration with silicon, forming hybrid-dimensional heterojunctions without lattice mismatch limitations. Among them, molybdenum ditelluride (MoTe₂), with its rich phase transition characteristics and tunable electronic properties, has become an ideal material for constructing high-performance heterojunction detectors of this type.

Biomacromolecules | ZEPTOOLS ZEM Series Scanning Electron Microscope Reveals the Triple Thermal Insulation Secret of CCF Coaxial Cryogel Fibers
In extreme industrial or urban environments, lightweight thermal insulation textiles for personal heat management are crucial for reducing the risk of heat illness or hypothermia. Natural polymers such as cellulose and chitin, with their excellent environmental friendliness and renewability, have become highly attractive bio-based raw materials. Meanwhile, aerogels are widely recognized as exceptional insulating materials due to their high porosity and low thermal conductivity. To overcome the dependence of traditional aerogels on molds and achieve mass production, mature wet spinning technology was introduced to continuously process aerogel precursors into fibers, laying the foundation for continuous production of geometrically diverse textiles.

Nature Communications | ZEPTOOLS In-Situ TEM Facilitates Research on Chip-Scale Compact Photonic Random Neurons
With the advent of the big data era, traditional artificial intelligence hardware systems based on complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology and the von Neumann architecture are severely constrained by the physical limits of Moore's Law when facing exponentially growing computational demands, encountering significant challenges such as bottlenecks in computational efficiency improvement and high energy consumption. Consequently, integrated photonic neural networks (PNNs), leveraging the inherent advantages of photons—ultra-high speed, wide bandwidth, high parallelism, and low power consumption—have emerged as a highly promising new computing paradigm that integrates neuromorphic and photonic computing. In biology, neurons do not perform deterministic calculations; internal noise, such as the stochastic opening of their ion channels, endows biological neurons with inherent stochastic dynamics, thereby providing crucial support for probabilistic computations like Bayesian inference. Therefore, introducing probabilistic models into photonic hardware is of great significance for suppressing the overconfidence of deterministic reasoning and enhancing the accuracy and robustness of neural networks.

CEJ | ZEPTOOLS ZEM Series SEM Facilitates Research on Regulating Organelle Crosstalk to Promote Osseointegration of Diabetic Implants
As a metabolic epidemic affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide, the pathological impact of diabetes mellitus extends far beyond blood glucose dysregulation itself. Diabetes-induced bone disorders, in particular, have become a focal point of clinical concern. In the diabetic state, patients often suffer from serious issues such as an increased risk of bone fractures, delayed healing, and impaired bone regeneration. These are primarily attributed to hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress and the accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which trap bone metabolism in a state of low turnover and metabolic paralysis. Current anti-resorptive therapies have proven inadequate in addressing this complex metabolic bone disease and struggle to fundamentally reverse the deep-seated damage diabetes inflicts on bone cells.
